Magnetic Field and Cogging Torque Analysis of Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine using Analytical Method

Abstract
This paper presents the magnetic flux density and cogging torque calculation of a surface permanent magnet
synchronous machines. We obtained analytical magnetic field solutions produced by permanent magnets based
on the magnetic vector potential. Then, the analytical solutions for cogging torque were obtained. All analytical
results were validated with two-dimensional finite element analysis and experimental results.
