Abstract
The goal of this research is to investigate the difference of the piezomagnetic response of X80 pipeline steel
caused by low- and high-cycle fatigue. A series of fatigue tests were performed and the piezomagnetic signals
were measured. The results show that although the shapes of the magnetic curves for low cycle fatigue and high
cycle fatigue are different, the evolution of the curves can be both divided into three stages. The relationship
between the experimental results and the theoretical models are discussed. The piezomagnetic response of X80
pipeline steel provides a potential possibility for evaluating the residual fatigue life of the submarine pipeline.
